ILLUSIONIST
JACKSON RAYNE TO ATTEMPT DEADLY ESCAPE- SHACKLED INSIDE A BAG, LOCKED
IN A COFFIN, BURIED 10 FEET UNDERWATER WITH NO AIR, RAYNE INVITES THE
ENTIRE CITY OF SALEM
Salem,
OR, Nov. 7, 2003 - 22 year old illusionist Jackson Rayne has been training
for weeks now in preparation to be shackled inside a canvas bag, locked
in a coffin, and buried 10 feet underwater. Jackson must escape his shackles,
and pick the locks on his bag and coffin before running out of air - risking
injury or even death. Rayne will put his life on the line Friday, November
7, at Sparks Pool of Willamette University at 7:30 p.m.
"It's a scary thing, but I'm excited about this event. We're expecting
a large turnout," says Rayne. "We're inviting the entire city
of Salem. It's going to be an incredible rush of adrenaline, fear, and
excitement. I'll be doing 30 minutes of magic prior to the escape. It's
going to be a good time so come check it out."
Rayne and his creative team initially designed the stunt with the intent
of locking him up in chains and attaching a 25 pound weight. Going against
the advice of close friends, Rayne decided that he wanted a greater challenge.
He wanted an escape that presented the fear of claustrophobia and the
fear of drowning all in one. Adding a canvas bag and wooden coffin has
achieved just that.
Price of admission is FREE for everyone. The stunt takes place at the
Sparks facility of Willamette University on 900 State Street, Salem, Oregon.
Showtime is Friday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. This show is geared towards
a family audience and all ages are encouraged to attend.
